Ticketmaster has officially launched in Colombia, acquiring the Medellín-based ticketing platform La Tiquetera and rebranding Eticket Colombia under the Ticketmaster name. The move establishes the Live Nation subsidiary’s sixth market in Latin America, joining its operations in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, and Peru.
While financial terms were not disclosed, Ticketmaster stated the deal combines La Tiquetera’s local market relationships with its own global infrastructure for digital ticketing, marketing, and data security. Adam Newsam, Ticketmaster’s EVP for Latin America, said the company is investing in local infrastructure and talent to serve fans, artists, and promoters, calling the expansion a “key step” in solidifying its global leadership.
The entry comes as Colombia’s live entertainment sector experiences significant growth, posting a 10.6% year-over-year increase and more than doubling its contribution to the national GDP over the last decade, according to Bancolombia. This momentum is fueled by homegrown superstars like Shakira and Karol G, alongside a rise in international tours visiting cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali.
This acquisition is part of a broader strategic push into the region by parent company Live Nation. In the past year, Live Nation acquired a majority stake in Bogotá-based festival producer Páramo Presenta, took over operations of Cali’s Arena Cañaveralejo, and increased its ownership stake in the Mexican concert promoter OCESA.
Andrés Fierro, director of the new Ticketmaster Colombia, noted the launch provides the country with “world-class infrastructure that raises the standard of the entertainment industry.” The platform will offer promoters and fans services including presales and verified fan resale, supported by the same data and analytics tools used in major North American and European venues.
Operating in more than 35 countries, Ticketmaster processes hundreds of millions of tickets annually. Executives have indicated that further regional growth is planned, with Newsam adding, “This is about raising the bar for live events across the region.”
