According to the United Nations, at least 14 Palestinians were killed and over 200 injured in the occupied West Bank during September amid escalating Israeli military operations and settler violence. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also reported 142 Israeli settler attacks and the displacement of 285 Palestinians within the same period.
These monthly figures contribute to a concerning long-term trend. Between January 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, UN data shows that 690 Palestinians, including 131 children, were killed in the West Bank. Israeli forces were responsible for 667 of these deaths, while 12 were attributed to Israeli settlers. The primary causes of the fatalities were live ammunition, which accounted for 470 deaths, and Israeli airstrikes, which resulted in 199.
Over the same timeframe, an additional 6,140 Palestinians sustained injuries from causes including live ammunition, rubber bullets, physical assault, and tear gas inhalation. OCHA has also recorded 2,660 attacks by Israeli settlers since the start of 2024 that resulted in casualties or property damage, contributing to the displacement of 39,843 Palestinians.
The surge in violence coincides with an intensification of Israeli military operations across the West Bank, which began after the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023. These operations have involved targeting suspected militant cells, imposing checkpoints, and isolating communities. Concurrently, there has been a rise in attacks and land seizures by Israeli settlers. Settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered illegal under international law.
