Although the NBA has already entered its second half as far as games are concerned, what really separates the course into two parts is the All-Star break and the closing of the transfer market. Which explains why the League has decided to postpone its policy of temporary emergency contracts until next February 17. Today, January 19, was listed as the provisional date to end the contractual exceptions generated by the latest outbreak of COVID-19, but the NBA has announced the new deadlines through an official statement.
This regulation has been in force since December 20. The reform stipulates that each franchise can add a new player through a 10-day contract for each player who enters the COVID protocol. In the event that casualties amount to two, the hiring of a player will become mandatory, increasing a number for each new absence caused by the coronavirus. In turn, players with a two-way contract may exceed the maximum of 50 games with the parent team that is included in the regular regulations.
Thanks to this regulation, the current season is already the one that has seen the most different players play in the NBA in its history. Leaving some bizarre chapters along the way.
