The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday that the death toll from Israeli raids on the Strip since October 7 had risen to 10,328 Palestinians, with more than 25,000 others injured.
This came in a press conference by the Ministry’s spokesman, Ashraf Al-Qudra, in front of Al-Shifa Hospital Its surroundings are subjected to constant Israeli bombing in Gaza City.
He said that among the martyrs were 4,237 children, 2,719 women, and 631 elderly people.
Medical personnel are the target of aggression
He explained that the death toll among medical personnel reached 192, in addition to 40 ambulances being destroyed and out of service as a result of the Israeli aggression.
He confirmed that the Israeli occupation targeted more than 120 health institutions, which led to 18 hospitals being out of service and 40 primary care centers due to Israeli targeting and fuel exhaustion.
The occupation expanded its war on hospitals in the Gaza Strip, as the past hours witnessed the targeting of 7 hospitals in Gaza and the north (including the Shifa Complex), killing 13 martyrs and 140 wounded.
The Israeli army demands the evacuation of hospitals in the Gaza Strip, as the Al-Rantisi Specialized Hospital for Children received a threat to be evacuated in preparation for its bombing.
Ashraf Al-Qudra said that it is clear that the occupation is deliberately targeting the basic necessities of life in the Gaza Strip, especially in hospitals, where until now medical teams cannot find a piece of bread, and can barely find a drink of water in Gaza and the north.
Bodies in the streets
He pointed out that there were hundreds of victims who were forced by the occupation to flee from northern to southern Gaza, and said that there were a large number of victims and bodies of martyrs on the ground, and ambulances had not yet been able to recover them.
The Palestinian official renewed his call to provide a safe humanitarian corridor for the entry of medical supplies, aid, and fuel, and to ensure the exit of the wounded outside Gaza, and the entry of specialized medical delegations to the Strip’s hospitals.
In this context, the government media office in Gaza said that about 22% of the total population of the Gaza Strip became direct victims as a result of the Israeli aggression, either martyrs or wounded, noting that hospitals in the Gaza Strip receive, on average, one wounded person every minute and 15 martyrs every hour.
