2022, a better working year… for those who changed jobs

At the end of 2021, half of the people surveyed by OCCMundial in Mexico considered that their employment situation throughout that year had been even worse than in 2020, when the covid-19 pandemic paralyzed the world. At the end of this year, fewer people have that perception, but 36% still responded that 2022 has been deficient in terms of work compared to 2021.

A similar portion to those who feel less optimistic is on the other side of the coin: 38% thought that 2022 was better than 2021 in terms of employment. But who thinks that? Mainly (47%) who changed jobs for a better one than they had.

According to a Gallup consultancy study, eight out of 10 workers in Latin America do not enjoy their jobs and do not feel committed to the company or institution in which they work.

Measures to retain talent

There are other important reasons mentioned by people who perceive this year as a good one, which can be useful for companies if they want to retain their talent, improve productivity and avoid turnover costs.

But not all the changes have to do with budget, but with implementing new ways of working. More than a quarter of the workers surveyed (27%) indicated that by having the measures to better balance their work with their personal life, 2022 was better than 2021.
