Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said in a statement that 20 Palestinians were killed in Israeli shelling of various targets in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that 6 Palestinians were killed as a result of Israeli shelling that targeted a tent housing displaced people in the town of Abasan, east of Khan Yunis.
Also in Khan Yunis, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that a number of Palestinians were injured as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in the Al-Zana area, east of the city.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that a Palestinian was killed in an Israeli bombardment that targeted the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Yunis. The correspondent also reported that three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a tent housing displaced people in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis.
The correspondent said that 4 people were killed and others were injured in an Israeli occupation bombing that targeted a house and a popular market west of the city.
The Civil Defense spokesman said that the North Gaza Governorate witnessed, on Wednesday, Israeli artillery and air bombardment targeting homes and scattered areas.
He explained that the water desalination plants in the Gaza and North governorates are still out of service due to the lack of fuel.
In Gaza Governorate, Basal said that 5 Palestinians were killed by Israeli shelling of different areas and an Israeli sniper operation against a Palestinian.
He added that Israel continues to prevent the entry of vegetables, fruits, frozen foods and basic materials to the Gaza and North Governorates for the 91st consecutive day.
In a separate statement, the Civil Defense said that its crews had controlled large fires that broke out in shops and refrigerator warehouses in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the Strip, following Israeli shelling.
He added, “Our crews succeeded in controlling major fires that broke out in refrigerator shops belonging to the Al-Barawi family in the town of Beit Lahia, and the losses were only material.”
He pointed out that his crews escaped a second Israeli attack on the place, while trying to extinguish the fire in the warehouses.
Ambush of the Faraheen 2
Earlier on Wednesday, Al Jazeera broadcast exclusive footage of the “Al-Faraheen 2” ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades against an infantry force of occupation soldiers in the Al-Faraheen area east of Khan Yunis.
The video showed that the ambush dates back to Monday, August 5, when members of the invading force were targeted with a “Sejil” explosive device, which led to the killing and wounding of all members of that force.
The footage also revealed that the ambush took place in a buffer zone established by the Israeli army east of Khan Yunis.
One of the elements said, addressing the occupation: “There is no safety for you in this area from which you displaced its people. It is forbidden to you. There is no safety for you from it or in it.”
A leading source in the Qassam Brigades told Al Jazeera that the brigades’ members, after the explosion, finished off the remaining soldiers with light machine guns from a close distance, and that their remains were scattered around the place and carried inside by troop carriers, then transported by two helicopters.
He added that the explosive material in the device was extracted from unexploded Israeli missiles and contained 750 shrapnel. He explained that the device used was of the “Sijil” type and was manufactured during the Battle of Tufan al-Aqsa.
The Al-Qassam Brigades also broadcasted pictures that it said were of a tight ambush targeting Israeli vehicles that had penetrated George Street, east of Rafah.
For her part, she announced Al-Quds Brigades -The military wing ofIslamic Jihad Movement– Controlling an Israeli drone while it was carrying out intelligence missions in the skies of Khan Yunis.
As for the Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades in Gaza, they broadcast footage of the wreckage of an Israeli Quadcopter drone, and indicated that their fighters had succeeded in shooting it down while it was flying in the skies of the Al-Bureij camp in the middle of the Strip while carrying out an intelligence mission.
In contrast, the Israeli army announced the continued deployment of the 252nd Division forces on the Netzarim axis that separates the north of the Gaza Strip from its south, and the continuation of the operations of the 162nd Division in Rafah.
The Israeli occupation army spokesman said that the air force targeted a weapons manufacturing workshop, belonging to Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movement, located in the humanitarian area of Deir al-Balah, according to his claim.
With broad American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 131,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
