In Seoul, the wife of former Justice Minister Jo Kok was sentenced to four years in prison for academic fraud and financial misconduct.
The court also fined 500 million won ($ 451,100). The court said, “Jeong colluded with her husband in forging an academic certificate for their daughter, and falsely claimed that her daughter participated in an international academic conference held at the Seoul National University Law School in May 2009.”
She added, “Joe also participated in forging his daughter’s training certificate at a Busan hotel, which was used to accept her at the university.”
Last November, Jeong, 58, a professor at Dongyang University, charged 15 counts of admitting her daughter to the university and questionable investments in a private equity fund.
