Protests in Israel
On Sunday, 5 Israeli police officers were injured, after they clashed with ultra-Orthodox demonstrators who refused to impose restrictions on containing the emerging Corona virus.
Police reported that the five officers were injured and at least 4 people were arrested while confronting large crowds of religious demonstrators in several Israeli cities, according to the Associated Press.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse hundreds of militant demonstrators, who described the security men as “Nazis”.
Law enforcement forces have often been reluctant to crack down on the community, whose members have been reluctant to reopen schools, allow prayers in temples and hold large weddings and funerals, despite infection control restrictions imposed.
