- The state governor accompanied the Secretary of the Interior on his visit to Sinaloa to socialize the extension until 2028 of the assistance of the Armed Forces in public security tasks.
Culiacán, Sinaloa, October 14, 2022.- As he did previously in a meeting with the deputies of the 64th Legislature, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya accompanied the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, in a meeting with representatives of sectors and municipal presidents, with the purpose of socializing the constitutional reform that authorizes the extension of the term that expired in 2024 and was approved until 2028 for the National Guard and Armed Forces to assist in public security tasks.
It should be noted that the Secretary of the Interior chose Sinaloa to start a tour throughout the country, to socialize this constitutional reform in each of the Local Congresses of the 32 states, and taking advantage of this visit, Governor Rocha invited him to the Government Palace, to hold a similar meeting with the 18 municipal presidents, and representatives of the social and productive, academic and religious sectors.
In his message, Governor Rocha highlighted that 80 percent of Mexicans agree with the military remaining in the streets to help with public security, and reiterated the call he made moments before during the meeting in Congress. of the State, so that the local deputies validate this reform that was approved in the Chambers of Deputies and Senators.
“Right now I told the deputies, I very humbly ask them to support me and to support the municipal presidents, and continue with their differences, continue speaking that they are against militarization and explain why their reasons and raise their flags , but now give us the opportunity so that we can continue building peace”, he emphasized.
Governor Rocha pointed out that Sinaloa is improving security indicators, in coordination with the Federation and the municipalities, with the support of the Mexican Army, the Mexican Navy and the National Guard.
“We are about to remove Culiacán from the 50 most violent cities in the country, we have come a long way, we are in 26th place in security, based on the idea that 1 is the most violent; Sinaloa was normally at number 1, number 2, number 3, and would go down again to number 1,” he recalled.
In his speech, the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, specified that he chose Sinaloa to start this tour throughout the country due to the extraordinary work that Governor Rubén Rocha Moya has carried out in these months, whom he described as the best governor of the whole country.
Regarding the constitutional reform, the person in charge of the Nation’s internal policy explained that in addition to maintaining until March 2028 the permanence of the Armed Forces in the streets in security tasks, it will also allow work on training of the civil police, with the aim that they be better prepared once the National Guard withdraws from these tasks.
“Here there can be no haggling because it is not a matter of partisan colors, it is a matter that what is at stake is the tranquility of Mexicans, of Mexican women, that what we all want is for children to be able to play without any fear in the streets even in the farthest corners of the country and what we all want is that when a lady or a man go back home at the end of the working day they do not do it with the fear that they are going to be robbed when they get off of the truck or of public transport and that everyone on the roads is not thinking at what time two or three come across me and get me out of the car and take it away, to say the least, “he said.
Secretary López Hernández reiterated that for these reasons, his call to the local legislators of the states is that they once again give a vote of confidence to the best institutions available to the Mexican State, which are the Ministry of Defense and the Secretary of the Navy.
Both at the meeting in the State Congress and in the Government Palace, Governor Rocha and the Secretary of the Interior were accompanied by the coordinator of the Morena parliamentary faction in the Chamber of Deputies, and promoter of this reform, federal legislator Ignacio Mier Velazco.
The meeting was welcomed by the Secretary General of the Government, Enrique Inzunza Cázarez; and also in his capacity as host mayor, the municipal president of Culiacán, Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil, as well as the remaining 17 mayors; the rectors of the Universities, and prominent businessmen such as Jesús Vizcarra, Juan Manuel Ley Bastidas, Leovi Carranza, among others.
