Nine people were killed and others injured on Wednesday when a truck bomb exploded at a military police checkpoint at the western entrance. For the city of Azaz Brief Aleppo Northern.
A military source told Al Jazeera Net that the explosion was caused by an explosive device planted in a large truck, and was detonated when it reached the checkpoint at a military police checkpoint.
The explosion occurred in the back of the car, killing 9 people, including members of the military police, in addition to civilians who were passing through the checkpoint as the explosion occurred.
In a statement to Al Jazeera Net, the Director of Health in Azaz and its countryside, Hassan Sobhi Ibrahim, said that the city’s hospitals received 9 charred bodies bearing signs of burns and shrapnel, in addition to 25 injured people, 11 of whom are in critical condition.
Civil Defense official Ziad Harkoush explained that it was not possible to identify some of the dead due to the charred bodies.
He added that a large fire broke out in the truck bomb and spread to several cars and motorcycles that were near the explosion site.
Harkoush said that the residents of these areas are exposed to Russian bombing and continuous attacks by the Syrian regime.
It is not yet clear who is responsible for the attack.
