Ángela Torres has been announced as the opening act for Shakira’s upcoming concerts in Argentina. The Colombian superstar is returning to the country for her “Las mujeres ya no lloran World Tour,” with three shows scheduled for December 8, 9, and 11 at the Vélez Sarsfield Stadium. This return comes nine months after her two performances at the Campo Argentino de Polo.
Torres shared the news on the Luzu TV show “Nadie dice Nada.” “I’m going to be opening for Shakira at Vélez,” she declared, confirming she would perform on all three dates. Expressing her excitement, she added, “It’s in December, just days away. I’m very, very nervous! Three shows at Vélez! I can’t believe it. My album is going to be played at Vélez.”
Following the broadcast, Torres shared the official concert flyer, which listed her as a special guest, with her 3.2 million Instagram followers. She also posted a video from her adolescence showing her singing Shakira’s 1998 hit “Inevitable,” highlighting her long-standing admiration for the global icon.
Shakira’s return to Argentina was first announced in mid-September. These three December concerts will feature a setlist combining her greatest hits with tracks from her latest album, released in March 2024.
The announcement places a spotlight on Torres, who recently released her debut solo album, “No me olvides.” The 27-year-old artist recently made headlines by revealing on “Nadie dice Nada” that her full birth name is Ángela Azul Concepción Caccia Currá. She explained that her well-known surname, “Torres,” is an artistic tribute to her grandmother, the legendary actress and singer Lolita Torres. She also disclosed that her famous uncle, singer Diego Torres, shares the Caccia surname, emphasizing the symbolic power of “Torres” as an artistic family brand.
