A minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 struck north of San Francisco on Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The temblor occurred at 7:08 a.m. Pacific time, with its epicenter located about one mile northwest of The Geysers, California.
The USGS initially reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 4.1 before revising it. The agency notes that such data is often updated as seismologists analyze more information following a seismic event. Aftershocks, which are smaller earthquakes that can follow a larger one, may also occur in the region.
