New York, USA (CNN) – Megan Markle said Monday that she has invested in “Clevr Brands” instant oat milk company, which sells 4 flavors of its powdered drink for $ 28 per package.
The company says its products are sustainable and from ethical and healthy sources.
Hana Mendoza, CEO of the startup, founded the company in 2019 with Roger Coppola, who is now the company’s chief operating officer.
“This investment supports a passionate businesswoman who prioritizes building a community alongside her business,” Markle said in a statement. “I am proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and takes a holistic approach to health.”
Clevr Brands, which started as a pop-up coffee venture, uses organic or non-GMO ingredients, according to the company’s website.
Also, all of the company’s shipping materials are 100% post-consumer recycled and 100% recyclable. The company prioritizes “working with suppliers of smaller components, family businesses or those with more transparent supply chains,” according to the company’s website.
Neither the company nor Markle disclosed the value of the investment.
“Her passion for what we innovate is evident,” Mendoza said of Markle’s investment, adding that she is “excited about the road ahead.”
Oat milk has witnessed great popularity in the food and beverage industry, while sales of plant-based dairy alternatives have increased in recent years and accelerated during the Corona pandemic. Oat milk manufacturers are also a modern investment. In July, a group of investors including Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman invested $ 200 million in the Oatly Milk Company.
