Ron Klein, chosen by US President-elect Joe Biden as chief of the White House staff, said Biden was considering more than sanctions to respond to the cyber attack on US government institutions.

He added in an interview with “CBS” that Biden is studying ways to respond to suspected Russian infiltrators who have penetrated about six US government agencies and viewed data from thousands of American companies.
He continued: “The matter is not limited to sanctions, but extends to actions and things we can do to limit the ability of foreign parties to launch such attacks.”
People familiar with the matter told Reuters that the options being considered by the Biden administration to punish Moscow over its alleged role include financial sanctions and retaliatory infiltrations of Russian infrastructure.
A few days ago, American media claimed that pirates “connected to the Russian state” were behind a major breach that targeted a number of institutions in the United States, which the Kremlin denied.
