Outrage as self-proclaimed ‘COVID denier’ sets up a table outside a busy testing clinic declaring coronavirus is a scam and challenging people to change his mind

A self-proclaimed ‘covid-denier’ has set up a table outside a busy Sydney testing clinic causing outrage with his sign declaring that the pandemic is a scam.
Lachlan Kavanagh was pictured outside a Bondi clinic challenging passerbys to ‘change his mind’ about the virus, which has killed 1.7 million people worldwide.
The image was posted to Facebook on December 20, captioned: ‘What a legend in Bondi.’
It features Mr Kavanagh smiling behind a table, giving cars lined up for testing the thumbs up with a sign that reads: ‘COVID IS A SCAM, CHANGE MY MIND.’
The young activist has also been spotted out on Freedom Day marches throughout the pandemic, demanding an end to lockdown restrictions.
On social media, he proudly boasted of being ‘Sydney’s leading COVID denier’.

The young Sydneysider got his idea from the famous YouTuber, Steven Crowder, who is notorious for the similar set up, asking people to ‘change his mind’ on hot topics.
His videos often receive millions of views on YouTube as he has ‘real conversations with real people on hot button issues.’
But Mr Kavanagh received a mix of responses for his stunt.
One Facebook user commented: ‘I see another stupid kid the (no) wonder COVID-19 is spreading we have idiots like that’
Others have praised the man for his efforts, with several comments labeling him a ‘legend.’

The disease COVID-19 is caused by a newly discovered novel coronavirus, and has left hospitals around the world at breaking point thanks to an influx of patients.
Coronavirus is an infectious disease that affects the respiratory system in different ways with many dying from the virus.
It enters the lungs and spreads throughout the body which can lead to long term impacts such as a shortness of breath and chest pains, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
In Europe and North America, a deadly second wave is currently reeking havoc on communities, killing loved ones and forcing economies into lockdown.
Sydney is currently battling through its own second wave, with 68 cases springing up in the city’s Northern Beaches.
Mr Kavanagh has been seen in other locations with the same sign and set up, including Manly – which is currently in lockdown thanks to the worrying outbreak.
