Today, Monday, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced an agreement with its Lebanese counterpart to sell a quantity of black oil surplus to the needs of Iraqi refineries to Lebanon.
A statement by the ministry stated, “Minister Ihsan Abdel-Jabbar met with the visiting Lebanese delegation headed by Minister of Energy and Water Raymond Ghajar, in continuation with the consultations and discussions that were held earlier between the two countries.”
The statement quoted the Iraqi minister as saying: “It was agreed to sell a quantity of black oil in excess of the Iraqi refineries’ need to Lebanon during the year 2021, and in limited quantities that will be announced later, according to the prices of the international bulletin within the framework of joint cooperation between the two countries.”
According to the statement, Abdul-Jabbar expressed his hope that the agreement would achieve common interests, as the interests are summarized in covering part of Lebanon’s need for fuel in power generation, and for Iraq to achieve financial revenues.
