The Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs, Ali Al-Ayed, announced that it had been decided to suspend receiving direct and indirect air passenger flights coming from Britain for a period of two weeks.
Al-Ayed pointed out that “the decision comes in light of the developments in the epidemiological situation in Britain, and the presence of reports of the emergence of a new strain of Corona virus there, which requires additional precautionary health protocols and new mechanisms to deal with the spread of the epidemic.”
He stressed that the aim of the procedure is “to maintain the stability of the epidemiological situation in Jordan,” and that it was coordinated by the Minister of Health, based on a recommendation issued by the National Committee for Epidemiology.
He pointed out that “the continued implementation of the decision will depend on the available reliable scientific information on the repercussions of the mutation of the Corona virus.”
He noted that “the government is following up through the Ministry of Health the developments of the epidemiological situation in the world, and will take any additional precautionary measures related to flights to prevent any negative repercussions on the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom.”
