The arrival of Hatem Ali’s body to his country, about two hours before the end of the year, seemed to be a final scene by the great director, in which he put the title of a year of grief experienced by the Syrians, and said it to funerals.
And on the impact of the Syrians’ grief over the person of director Hatem Ali, whose pictures covered the pages of social media, many Syrians received another news of death:
Twenty-five people were killed among the Syrian soldiers in an ambush in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, and social media sites began full of pictures of mass funerals, and less than 24 hours later, the news came from Daraa, announcing the killing of five others.
About two hours before the end of the year, the body of Ali, the owner of the “Palestinian Westernization”, was arriving at Damascus airport after a stay that lasted about ten years.
Ali was one of the characters around which Syrians of various orientations gathered, which some interpreted as nostalgia for the time of pure drama that Ali embodied with dramatic works that ranged between the historical and the serious social.
Just as the biography of “Zeer Salem” was overflowing with death and futile battles between relatives, the “Four Seasons” was quite the opposite: a world of pleasant events and human relationships between people.
It is another year of sadness that goes by, in which even small hopes have not been fulfilled to reduce the caliber of reducing the duration of electric rationing, and to enter the new year without darkness.
Thus, the Syrians crossed into another year in the midst of darkness and sadness that could not be broken by bullets or the cracking of games in a dark sky.
