Covid alert in Sydney as a major shopping centre and a supermarket are exposed to virus – here’s how to find out if you need to get tested and isolate NOW
A major shopping centre and supermarket in Sydney have been exposed to coronavirus, forcing thousands into isolation.
The Thai Hung Supermarket at Marrickville, Bankstown Central Shopping Centre and Bankstown Service NSW centre have all been visited by coronavirus infected individuals, NSW Health announced Sunday evening.
Anyone who attended the supermarket on Illawarra Road, Marrickville on December 31 between 3.45pm to 4.45pm must get tested immediately and self-isolate until a negative result is received.
The same also applies for those who visited the shopping centre on North Terrace, Bankstown on January 6 between 11.30am to 2pm, in particular individuals who entered the Target, Myer, Smiggle, Big W, Best and Less stores, and visited the Oporto in the food court.
The same alert applies to customers who visited the shopping centre’s Big W, Smiggle and Oporto in the food court on January 8 between 1pm to 2.30pm.
Customers who visited the Bankstown Service NSW centre on North Terrace, Bankstown on January 8 between 11.45am to 1pm must also get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
It comes after NSW‘s three new coronavirus cases, close contacts that contact tracers missed, were out and about in the community while infectious, the state’s chief health officer has admitted.
The new cases come as thousands of Sydney residents celebrate ‘Freedom Day’ after being stuck in lockdown since before Christmas.
The three new cases, two linked to the Berala cluster and one to the northern beaches cluster, are all close contacts of known cases.
