Indian authorities announced Tuesday that at least 15 people were killed by a truck being run over to them while they slept on the side of the road in Surat province in the western state of Gujarat.
Police officer Usha Rada said, “Among the victims is a girl, 8 women and 6 men, in addition to the wounding of 6 others,” noting that the accident occurred as a result of the truck colliding with an agricultural tractor and swerving to run over the workers who were on the side of the road.
