The Greek Parliament approves the law to expand the territorial waters of the Ionian Sea

The Greek parliament adopted a bill to expand the country’s territorial waters from 6 miles to 12 miles in the Ionian Sea.

Before the vote, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a speech to Parliament that his country has the right to expand its territorial waters.

Mitsotakis indicated that his country has taken steps on this issue in line with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
