In his request, Al-Bayadi added that the planned project will destroy the largest and most important square in Heliopolis (the Basilica Square), which is the largest and oldest historical axis, in addition to the negative impact on the services in the area such as schools and hospitals.
The Egyptian parliamentarian described the new “bridge project” in Heliopolis as a distortion of civilization and a disregard for the archaeological value of ancient historical monuments that are considered ancient tourist and religious attractions in Cairo.
Al-Bayadi demanded the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Local Administration and the governor of Cairo to stop these measures “immediately”.
