Saudi Arabia and Iran joined the list of countries welcoming the election of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, a new interim government in Libya, which will lead the country to the general elections, scheduled to be held late this year.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the results of this vote, noting its aspiration that this step would achieve “security, stability and development” in Libya, praising the fruitful efforts of the United Nations in that, and expressed its hope that “this achievement will preserve the unity and sovereignty of Libya, leading to an exit.” All foreign fighters and mercenaries, and establish a permanent solution that prevents external interference that endangers Arab regional security.

On the Arab level, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that it welcomed the selection of the new interim government in Libya, calling on the Libyan parties to “continue to advance the supreme interest of their country.”
In the international context, Russia expressed its welcome to this agreement, and said in a statement: “The fruits of the work of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum must become an important and pivotal step towards overcoming the severe and protracted crisis in Libya … We wish the new Libyan leadership success in achieving difficult goals. The transitional stage that stands before it, foremost of which is the organization of a constitutional referendum and general elections scheduled for December 24 this year.
Ankara also welcomed the selection of the new interim government in Libya, saying that this step represents “an important opportunity to preserve the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
In a joint statement, the United States, Britain, Germany, France and Italy expressed their welcome to the formation of the new interim government in Libya, where the five countries described, in a joint statement issued Friday evening, the formation of the new Libyan interim government as a “vital step.” However, she said that there is still a “long way to go” towards achieving peace and stability in Libya.
The Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva voted today, in the first round of the elections for the new executive authority, in favor of a list that includes Muhammad Yunus al-Manfi, a candidate for the position of President of the Presidential Council, and Abdel-Hamid Muhammad Dabaiba, a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
