A dog walker has discovered a body on a popular Darwin beach.
The man made the discovery while walking his dog on Casuarina Beach, near the Darwin Surf Life Saving Club, on Thursday morning.
The beach has since been closed by investigators, with the public advised to avoid the area, according to 9News.
A police drone was seen flying overhead scanning for possible clues, while detectives as well as forensic experts examine the scene on the ground.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon told reporters the man was only partially clothed when he was discovered.
‘At this stage, it is too early to tell exactly how long the man’s body has been there or whether his death is suspicious,’ she said.
Northern Territory Police have asked anyone who was on the beach early on Thursday morning or late on Wednesday night who may have information into the incident to contact them.
