Reuters quoted the lawyer as telling reporters this morning: “We spoke with the district judge, and according to him, the pre-trial detention of Suu Kyi will continue until February 17, and today will not end as expected.”
Military authorities had said that they had detained Suu Kyi on charges of illegally importing radio communication equipment.
On Sunday, Myanmar witnessed massive demonstrations against the military coup and demanding the release of Suu Kyi, and security services sent armored vehicles to the streets of major cities to disperse the protesters, while clashes took place between demonstrators and the army in Kachin state, north of the country.
The non-governmental organization NetBlocks, which analyzes Internet operations, announced a partial return of the Internet this morning in Myanmar, after it recorded an almost complete blackout in the country on Sunday in the background of the protests.
