Police in Sakhalin Province, in the far east of Russia, announced that the storming of a jewelry store in a city in the province by children disguised as unicorns was a play staged by the owner of the store herself.
And the police indicated in a statement today, Saturday, that their investigations led to confirmation that the incident was fabricated by the owner of the store and one of its workers in order to attract more customers through social networking sites.
The owner of a jewelry store in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk said on her Telegram channel that a number of children disguised as unicorns entered her store and one of them broke the jewelry display box with a hammer he had before they fled, without taking anything from the store. The woman assumed that the children did so with a challenge or trick game, even though she decided to report the incident to the police.
Police revealed that the children who participated in the accident were hired through an advertising agency. The police confirmed their intention to hold the organizers of the “storming operation” accountable to justice and to give a legal assessment of the agency’s actions that presented minors as actors in a dubious play.
