The public baths in Fez resumed their work on Saturday after months of closure, which was imposed according to government measures in the face of the Corona pandemic.
A member of the Association of Baths Lords in the city of Fez Youssef Al-Fadhili said, “Last Thursday, the heads of the administrative attachés held an emergency meeting with the bosses of the baths under their influence, in which they informed them of the decision taken by the relevant committee, and the judge to allow them to return to practice their activities.”
Al-Fadhili emphasized that “the turnout yesterday, Friday, for the bathrooms that opened their doors did not exceed 15%, compared to the usual periods before the closure due to the pandemic,” noting that “50% of workers in these bathrooms were only returned to their work.”
He continued, “A number of bathroom owners had to borrow money to repair their shops before they were restarted, after their equipment had deteriorated due to the long closure period.”
An informed source pointed out that “the authorities called on the owners of the bathrooms, during the meetings and visits they made to their stores, to adhere to not exceeding 50% of the capacity of their bathrooms, as a preventive measure in the face of the outbreak of the virus.”
