Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Aramco’s president and chief executive officer, Amin Al-Nasser, said Tuesday that securing China’s energy needs is one of the Saudi oil giant’s “top priorities”.
Al-Nasser’s statements came during his participation in the China Development Forum for the year 2021, which was held remotely, where he pointed out 3 main areas in which the priorities of China and Aramco, which was the largest supplier of crude oil to China in 2020, coincide, namely: “Ensuring the continuity of energy supplies to China, and that comes At the forefront of the company’s priorities, and not only for the next five years, but for the next fifty years and beyond, and secondly: the company believes that there are opportunities for more investments in integrated refining, processing and marketing projects that contribute to meeting China’s needs of heavy transportation and chemicals. And from lubricants and non-metallic materials, and third: to help China achieve its goals of innovation, modernization and sustainability, “according to what was reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The Saudi Aramco Research Center in the Chinese capital, Beijing, is currently cooperating with Chinese partners in several fields, including processing emissions, fuel systems for the future, and the technology of converting crude oil to chemicals with chemical stimulation, according to the agency’s statement quoting Al-Nasser. His company also plans to expand and strengthen research cooperation with China.
According to Al-Nasser, the cooperation between the two sides is expected to focus on extracting blue hydrogen from hydrocarbon resources, low-carbon products, blue ammonia, synthetic fuels, carbon capture, use and storage, and materials science.
