In response to a question about the Russian fund’s investment in the bonds of the “Telegram” company, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, Wednesday, that the Kremlin welcomes any successful investment that generates income for the fund.
The Russian Direct Investments Fund stated yesterday that it had invested in the “Telegram” company, together with the Mubadala company.
Telegram launched last week a five-year bond worth one billion dollars with an annual interest of 7%. The owners of these bonds have the right to convert them into shares in Telegram, after deducting 10% of the offering price, according to a source in financial circles.
It is noteworthy that the Russian Fund for Direct Investments and the UAE investment company, Mubadala, agreed in 2013 to establish a joint investment platform worth two billion dollars, which will invest in projects in Russia, including in infrastructure.
