European Council President Charles Michel called on Turkey to adhere to its recent “moderate behavior”, expressing cautious optimism about improving relations with Ankara.
“We hope to improve relations with Turkey, but at the same time … it is important for us that Turkey adhere to its positive and moderate behavior,” Michel said following the EU summit on Thursday.

He added that the European Union remains “cautious” in relations with Turkey.
He indicated that there are contacts between Brussels and Ankara to organize his visit to Turkey, which may take place next April.
