Southeasterly winds on Monday afternoon are drawing moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, leading to the development of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Lubbock region.
While the overall threat of severe weather remains low, these storm systems are expected to be slow-moving. The primary concern is heavy rainfall, which could result in localized flooding. The storms are forecast to dissipate by approximately 10 p.m., leading to quiet overnight conditions.
Tuesday is expected to begin with calm weather, as morning low temperatures settle in the 60s and south winds hold steady at around 10 mph.
Although winds may shift back to a southeasterly direction on Tuesday, most forecast models indicate that significant storm development will stay outside the area. The best chance for rain is predicted to be off the Caprock, in the most southeastern part of the region. Otherwise, Tuesday will be mostly sunny and quiet, with high temperatures approaching 90 degrees.
