Rock legend Bruce Springsteen will perform and be honored at the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala on October 18. The 75-year-old musician will be celebrated alongside actors Penélope Cruz and Bowen Yang, and filmmaker Walter Salles.
Often considered the West Coast’s equivalent to the Met Gala, the high-fashion fundraising event supports the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ exhibits and educational programs. Last year’s gala, which honored Quentin Tarantino, Rita Moreno, and Paul Mescal, raised more than $11 million.
The event’s co-chairs include Jon M. Chu, Common, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Robert Downey Jr., and Susan Downey. The host committee features an equally star-studded list with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, Adrien Brody, Zoë Kravitz, Demi Moore, Colman Domingo, Ke Huy Quan, Meg Ryan, and Amy Adams.
