In a recent Q&A session on the Philadelphia Eagles’ YouTube channel, quarterback Jalen Hurts offered fans a rare glimpse into the principles that guide him both on and off the field.
When asked to define his core values, Hurts provided a succinct, powerful answer: “Faith, family and championships.”
The quarterback also elaborated on his mental fortitude, particularly his approach to overcoming challenges. “Adversity’s a tricky thing because it’s all in how you see it,” Hurts explained. “I look at adversity as a challenge. It’s a healthy opportunity… you choose how you want to respond to it, and that’s what we all have in our power.”
He identified conquering such moments as the primary source of his passion for football. “There’s a lot of passion that oozes from me when I overcome something, I conquer a moment or take advantage of an opportunity,” he said. “I don’t think there’s a mountain that I can’t climb because with my work ethic, I know I will. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.”
This unwavering self-belief has been a cornerstone of the Eagles’ success, which includes two Super Bowl appearances in the last three years and playoff berths in each season Hurts has been the starting quarterback.
His philosophy extends even to the smallest details of his game-day preparation. Hurts revealed a personal message inscribed inside the tongue of his cleats, which he reads before every game: “Be J. Hurts, that’s always enough.” He described it as “a little reminder for me to know what time it is, to know who I am and know that’s enough.”
