An American anti-vaxxer is warning others that the pandemic is not yet over — after a girls’ trip to Las Vegas landed her mother in the hospital with COVID’19, ‘fighting for her life.’
Amanda, who goes @iseeupan on TikTok, shared a video about her mom’s illness on the app to ‘simply [show] how from one second to the next, life can change dramatically.’
The clip spotlights all of the fun they had in Sin City, from driving down the Strip to eating out to partying in their room — before dramatically cutting to Amanda’s mother hooked up to oxygen in the hospital.
Still deadly: TikTok user Amanda shared a video warning others that the pandemic is not over — revealing that her mother is currently battling the virus in the hospital
What virus? They had taken a girls’ trip to Vegas and her mother (pictured still healthy on the trip), her sister, and her sister’s girlfriend all came down with COVID
Cause and effect: Amanda, who said she is anti-vax, confirmed that her mother is also unvaccinated
The video begins upbeat, with Wham!’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go playing in the background.
She shows the lights, a slot machine win, dinner at an Italian restaurant, and a shot of her mom laughing in bed in their hotel room — which they decorated to celebrate a 32nd birthday.
But then, suddenly, the video cuts to a shot of Amanda’s mother in a hospital gown in her ICU bed. Though she is awake and waves at the camera, she is clearly quite ill and is getting oxygen.
‘Covid is NOT over,’ Amanda captioned the clip. ‘Please say a prayer for my mother, she’s currently in the icu fighting for her life.’
Speaking to commenters, Amanda revealed that her mother, her sister, and her sister’s girlfriend all came down with the virus.

‘We got comfortable and saw that cases were going down and finally decided to leave her house,’ she said, insisting her own personal ‘immunity’ protected her
She appears to have lucked out and stayed healthy, but admitted they made some ‘poor choices.’
‘We were bound to our home for over a year and wanted a break. It’s just unfortunate she got the s*** end of things,’ she said.
But when commenters pointed out that her family’s fate is not too surprising given that they were unvaccinated and were in a crowded place without masks, Amanda has continued to insist that she doesn’t want or need the vaccine.
‘My family is not anti vax,’ she wrote. ‘I, on the other hand, am. We got comfortable and saw that cases were going down and finally decided to leave her house.
‘I’m anti vax but I do believe fragile people like my mom should get the vax,’ she added.
‘Immunity is everything,’ she said, seeming to be arguing that she has a natural immunity despite no immunization. ‘This is why I came back from Vegas covid free. Health is wealth people. It’s not hard.’
Not having it: Commenters said it was completely illogical to think they could safely travel unvaccinated
Amanda has made it clear that she thinks that the fact that she didn’t get sick — though her mother and sister did — is proof that she doesn’t ‘need a vax to be saved.’
Commenters, though, have pointed out that her stance is completely at odds with science and extensive studies on the matter — and that it was completely illogical to think they could safely travel unvaccinated.
‘Hope she gets better but like girl what did you expect?’ wrote one.
‘So she’s unvaccinated and didn’t wear a mask in a densely populated area… how smart,’ wrote another.
‘Having a hard time feeling bad if you chose not to get vaccinated… natural selection,’ wrote a third.
Several complained that there are people who only become concerned about the pandemic when it affects them personally — though Amanda has fired back about ‘evil’ commenters for not showing enough empathy.
