Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara is proving to be a major box office success, achieving significant milestones both in India and overseas. The film, which stars debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has notably crossed the $1 million mark in North America within just four days of its release.
The movie’s international performance remained robust into the workweek. It earned an impressive $270,000 on Monday in North America, marking the second-highest Monday collection of the year in the territory after the historical epic Chhaava. This brought its four-day total in the region to just over $1 million, a remarkable feat for a film with newcomers and limited pre-release hype abroad.
The daily box office breakdown in North America indicates growing audience interest fueled by positive word-of-mouth:
- Day 1 (Friday): $180,000
- Day 2 (Saturday): $260,000
- Day 3 (Sunday): $352,000
- Day 4 (Monday): $270,000
Domestically, Saiyaara has also seen remarkable success, crossing the ₹100 crore mark in four days. Early estimates for its first Monday place the collection at ₹22.5 crore, bringing its total in India to approximately ₹105.75 crore.
The film’s strong performance is being attributed to its compelling content, popular music, and the on-screen chemistry between its lead actors. The success continues director Mohit Suri’s track record of launching new talent and delivering romantic hits like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain. Suri has previously been credited with launching the careers of actors like Emraan Hashmi and revitalizing those of stars such as Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sidharth Malhotra.
