The trailer for the upcoming 21st season of Project Runway has become the most-viewed trailer in Freeform’s history, signaling strong audience anticipation for Heidi Klum’s return to the fashion competition franchise.
According to Disney, the trailer amassed 42.7 million views across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube within nine days of its July 1 release. This record-breaking figure far surpasses the network’s previous high, held by the Cruel Summer Season 2 trailer, which garnered approximately 24 million views over ten days in 2023.
The impressive viewership numbers suggest a promising start for the series’ reboot on the Disney-owned network. Klum will host the new season and serve as a judge alongside series veteran Nina García and newcomer Law Roach. Designer Christian Siriano returns to his role as mentor for the contestants.
Project Runway is produced by Spyglass Media Group and Alfred Street Industries. Executive producers include Gary Barber and Sean Hoagland for Spyglass, and Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, Michael Rucker, and San Heng for Alfred Street Industries. Klum, Siriano, and Garcia also serve as executive producers.
The series, which revolutionized the reality competition genre, first premiered on Bravo in 2004 for five seasons. It later moved to Lifetime for an eleven-season run before returning to Bravo for seasons 17 through 20.
Season 21 of Project Runway will launch with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, July 31, at 9 p.m. ET on Freeform. The episodes will be available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ shortly after airing. Subsequent episodes will air weekly at 10 p.m. ET.
