The Boston Red Sox have reportedly rejected a substantial trade offer from the San Diego Padres for outfielder Jarren Duran. According to a report from MassLive’s Sean McAdam, the Padres proposed a package that included pitcher Dylan Cease, top catching prospect Ethan Salas, and another prospect.
Boston promptly declined the offer, a decision that aligns with other reports indicating the team is unlikely to part with Duran. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman has also noted that despite interest from San Diego, a trade involving the outfielder is improbable before the July 31 MLB trade deadline.
The Red Sox’s stance appears rooted in a strategy outlined by Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow, who has emphasized the importance of maintaining the team’s outfield depth.
