The start of the training camp is approaching (they begin next week) and the Nets still have to comply with a detail to have their entire squad. Which? Full vaccination of it.
In New York, authorities require proof of vaccination (at least one dose) for exercise and training in indoor facilities since mid-August. Such measure equally affects NBA players unless they have a medical or religious exception. Sean Marks, general manager of Brooklyn, admits that there are still members of the roster who are not vaccinated, but he is sure that they will be before starting the work on the parquet.
“We don’t think the requirements are going to be an obstacle for us. If training starts today, obviously a couple of people would not be in the photo. I’m not going to go into who he is, but we are sure that everyone will be able to fully participate in the team’s activities even before starting the training camp ”, says the executive.
Although the NBA maintains different guidelines for vaccinated and unvaccinated players, this is something that will not affect the Nets, Knicks or Warriors, who are subject to the rule explained above. On that, Marks is clear that since it is a personal decision, an understanding must be reached with each individual.
“I think we all understand what is at stake. You know, we’ve had very candid conversations. Those are individual decisions that either a staff member or a player must come to terms with. It is obviously out of our control. We support continuing vaccination and having a healthy team. And at this point, I think we are ready to start the season, “he concludes.
