Naomi Osaka Parts Ways With Coach Patrick Mouratoglou

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has ended her coaching partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou after less than a year, the tennis star announced Sunday on social media.

In her post, accompanied by a photo of the pair on a practice court, Osaka wrote, “Merci Patrick. It was such a great experience learning from you. Wishing you nothing but the best. You are one of the coolest people I’ve ever met and I’m sure I’ll see you around.”

The announcement comes just three days after Osaka’s second-round loss at the DC Open and shortly before she is scheduled to compete in Toronto. The US Open, the year’s final major tournament and an event Osaka has won twice, begins in New York on August 24.

Osaka hired Mouratoglou, the longtime former coach of Serena Williams, after parting ways with Wim Fissette following her second-round exit at last year’s US Open.
