Andrew Wiggins is one of the players who has chosen not to get vaccinated thus far. The Warriors forward does not trust such a remedy for the coronavirus and recently assured – once the NBA denied him the exemption for religious reasons – that he will continue to fight for what he believes, although this implies consequences when it comes to not being able to play all the games of the season.
In such a context, and given that it can harm Golden State, Draymond Green has been questioned as to whether he would intercede to convince Wiggins to get vaccinated. The leader of the San Francisco organization believes that no one should do something like that when it comes to something personal.
“That would be like if to Andrew, who everyone knows recently has had a child who must be about five months old, I told him if he is not going to take care of his wife or something like that. That is strictly personal to him. It is something that is health related and personal to your family. This is no different. We are dealing with something that I think has turned into a political war in terms of talking about it. Vaccinated and unvaccinated people… I think it has become very political, ”he explains.
Green is clear that there is a line that cannot be crossed when it comes to such personal decisions; and it even goes further by ensuring that such freedom is the watchword of the United States.
“I think you have to respect people’s feelings and their own personal beliefs. And I think that has been lost when it comes to vaccinated and not vaccinated … You say that we live in the land of free men, but you are not giving anyone freedom because you are forcing people to do something even though in essence you do not you oblige. And that goes against everything that the United States stands for, or supposedly stands for.
