LThe preseason is the time of the course in which experiments are allowed and in which taking any kind of hasty reading can be misleading. But it also serves to establish the first automatisms and tunes between the new pieces of the franchises. And that’s what the Cleveland Cavaliers who lost their second preseason game by losing to the Indiana Pacers (100-109) while they continue to make adjustments and discover possible formulas that work on the court.
One of them may be the connection established between two of the faces new to Ohio this summer: Ricky Rubio y Lauri Markkanen. The two European players came off the bench and were the most prominent in the Bikkerstaff team, also leaving signs of his good tuning on the court and that leaves cause for optimism in the Cavs.
The Spanish base returned to being the leading scorer of the Cleveland franchise after finishing with 14 points (six of 10 in field goals and a triple), two assists and two steals of ball in 18 minutes. For his part the fins pvot was also a substitute and contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
However, the European union was not enough for the Cavs to add their second defeat of the preseason in a game marked by the irregularity of the Ohio team (especially in the third quarter, when they stayed at 16 points) and by the good performance of Malcolm Brogdon, who was the best of the Pacers with 27 points (12 of 14 in field goals) and five rebounds, while Domantas Sabonis I ended up with a double-double of 14 points and 10 sacks under the hoops, being the king of the boards during the crash.
