There are times when what seemed like a bad idea ends up proving itself as a success. This is not the case for certain decisions made by Rob Pelinka in the past offseason, and perhaps the hiring of DeAndre Jordan started as the worst of them. How this has ended up materializing. After starting as a starter in the first games of the season, the center has been losing prominence until almost completely disappearing from the Lakers’ rotation. It is not surprising, then, that he is the first to visit the franchise’s exit ramp with Kent Bazemore, just as unveils Brian Windhorst para ESPN.
The Los Angeles Lakers continue to carry the urgency to fight for every ring that LeBron James has left to play, and they have only needed 39 games to realize that with this team they fall short. To be frank, they may have had quite a few left over. With this in mind, the Los Angeles offices are already pulling strings to improve the workforce for the market close.
The problem is that neither Jordan nor Bazemore are two pieces for which they can get immediate positive value in return. Despite both charging the veteran minimum, no franchise would absorb two players, 33 and 32, respectively, with such poor recent performance. Which implies that Pelinka will have to include them in some transfer to get rid of them. This movement is surely aimed at freeing up salary space to save luxury taxes or leave spaces in the workforce for the cuts market. Be that as it may, the Lakers have already activated their exit plan, although there are serious doubts about the revenue they can get.
