The oldest man in the world died in Spain – yesterday – Tuesday – at the age of 112, according to local media, less than a month before he reached the age of 113 on February 12 next.
Relatives of the man were quoted by Europa news agency and other media as saying that Saturnino de la Fuente’s life “was extinguished like a candle in a matter of seconds”.
Saturnino died in the city of Leon, about 300 kilometers northeast of Madrid, in the home of one of his daughters.
The Spanish man, who was only one and a half meters tall, had been included in the Guinness Book of Records for being the oldest living man in the world since September 10.
The Guinness Book of World Records expressed its sadness to hear the news of the death of Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia at his home in Spain, at the age of 112 years and 341 days.
