Actress Kelley Mack, known for her role as Addy in AMC’s The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33 following a battle with cancer.
Her family confirmed her passing in a statement, remembering her as “a bright, fervent light.” Mack passed away peacefully in Cincinnati on August 2 from central nervous system glioma. She was diagnosed with the rare form of cancer last September and had been undergoing aggressive treatment.
In an announcement posted to the actress’s Instagram page, her family wrote: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.” The tribute noted that her mother and aunt were present and added, “She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
Mack appeared in the ninth season of The Walking Dead from 2018 to 2019. An actress, producer, and voice artist, her diverse career also included the role of Alice in the psychological thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion and an appearance as Penelope Jacobs in the medical drama Chicago Med. Her other credits include 9-1-1 and The College Tapes.
Earlier this year, Mack starred in the horror-comedy Delicate Arch and the comedy-drama Universal, which was released in June.
Friends and former colleagues expressed their condolences on social media, with one writing, “This girl was SO special. My heart is so broken.”
According to the family’s statement, a “recognition and remembrance” event to honor her life will be held in Ohio on August 16.
