Houston Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was carted off the field during Thursday’s training camp practice with an apparent leg injury.
The incident occurred at the team’s facility in West Virginia while Gardner-Johnson was defending wide receiver John Metchie during a drill. After going down, he was unable to put any weight on the injured leg.
Medical staff attended to Gardner-Johnson on the field as concerned teammates gathered around him before he was transported for further evaluation.
A key offseason acquisition projected for a starting role in the secondary, the Texans are now awaiting an official diagnosis on the severity of the injury.
