Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, two of WWE’s most decorated superstars, have formed an unexpected yet formidable alliance, culminating in a victory at SummerSlam where they captured the Women’s Tag Team Championship. For Bliss, the victory was made even more special by having her daughter, Hendrix Rouge, in attendance.
The championship win marks a significant milestone in Bliss’s recent comeback. She returned to WWE at the Royal Rumble in February after a two-year hiatus to embrace motherhood with her husband, musician Ryan Cabrera. Adjusting to the ring presented initial challenges.
“It was tough at first because when you have a baby, things are not where you left them,” Bliss explained. “My body didn’t sit the way it used to. Training at the WWE Performance Center, it took a long time for me to get comfortable in my body again.” Now, she cites her daughter as a “new driving force” and her greatest motivation.
Bliss described her team with Flair as coming about “very randomly” but has found the experience highly rewarding. “It’s fun to see a different side of both of us,” she said, noting the collaboration allows fans to see a part of Charlotte that isn’t often on display. Their on-screen chemistry is bolstered by a genuine bond, with the pair recently spending time together at Universal Studios and Knott’s Berry Farm.
Balancing a demanding travel schedule with family life is a shared effort for Bliss and Cabrera. Bliss often brings her daughter on the road, which she says feels like having “a little piece of home” with her. Her daughter has also become a fan, particularly of the “Lilly” doll from Bliss’s previous character. “She loves Lilly so much,” Bliss shared, revealing they had to buy a merchandise version for her daughter at an event because “she wouldn’t let the real one go.”
Looking beyond her own career, Bliss commented on the enduring legacy of her late friend, Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda). She expressed excitement for the upcoming Wyatt Sicks haunted house at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, viewing it as a way for his “artwork to continue” and reach new fans. This inspired a suggestion for WWE to create a permanent theme park attraction, envisioning “a whole kind of Fun House ride.”
As a veteran, Bliss is optimistic about the future of women’s wrestling in WWE. She praised the talent on the current roster, especially from the NXT brand, highlighting a recent match against rising stars Sol Ruca and Zaria. “It just shows the division is going to be in great hands,” Bliss affirmed, “because these girls are all just incredible.”
