The San Francisco 49ers announced Friday they have re-signed quarterback Tanner Mordecai to a one-year contract. In a corresponding roster move, wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown was placed on the injured reserve list.
Mordecai returns to the 49ers just four days after being waived. He initially joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and spent the season on the practice squad. His collegiate career included stops at the University of Wisconsin (2023), SMU (2021-22), and the University of Oklahoma (2018-20).
St. Brown’s move to injured reserve follows a foot injury he sustained during a joint practice on Thursday. His tenure was brief, having signed with the team only three days prior following an injury to wide receiver Andy Isabella. This was St. Brown’s second short stint with the 49ers this year; he was previously on the roster for one week after first signing on July 22.
