With his WWE contract reportedly expiring within days, former NXT Champion Karrion Kross has been offered a new deal to remain with the company.
According to a report from Wrestling Observer Radio, the recent uncertainty surrounding Kross’s future is expected to end with him and his wife, Scarlett, re-signing. While previous reports indicated Kross had not been presented with a new contract, the situation has changed as the deadline has neared.
Industry analyst Dave Meltzer suggested that WWE may be incorporating Kross’s real-life contract negotiations into a storyline, a tactic recently used with fellow superstar R-Truth. That situation saw widespread fan concern over R-Truth’s reported departure, which was later revealed to be a scripted element for a major on-screen angle. Meltzer cautioned that repeatedly blurring the line between reality and fiction could erode media and fan trust over time.
Kross’s WWE career has seen significant highs and lows. After a dominant run as a two-time NXT Champion, he was promoted to the main roster in 2021 but was released from the company shortly after a poorly received creative overhaul of his character. He was rehired in 2022 under the new creative regime led by Triple H, though his second tenure has featured inconsistent booking. This inconsistency sparked the recent “We Want Kross” social media movement among fans, which has coincided with a more prominent role for him on television.
Despite his fluctuating on-screen presence, Kross is known to have powerful supporters backstage. He is considered a “Triple H guy” and recently received a strong endorsement from Paul Heyman. On The Ariel Helwani Show, Heyman compared the organic groundswell for Kross to the fan movements that helped propel legends like Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk to superstardom. Given this high-level internal support, a new contract was widely seen as the most probable outcome.
