“Let’s forget Va por México as we knew it”

The national leader of the PRD, Jesús Zambrano Grijalva, affirmed that his counterpart from the PRI, Alejandro Moreno, ceased to be a valid interlocutor to negotiate electoral alliances or political agreements. He affirmed that the Va por México coalition ceased to exist.

“The Va por México coalition as we knew it, let’s forget about it because the PRI was part of it as a national entity, and as long as Alito is in charge it will not be possible for us to sit down with him; we will not do it”, he sentenced.

—Alejandro Moreno is no longer a valid interlocutor?

“There is nothing with the PRI, less with Alejandro Moreno, really.

We are not going to sit down with him, it is my position as president of the PRD, and I understand that it is also that of Marko (Cortés) as far as the PAN is concerned.

“But we have maintained this position and there is no reason why after everything that happened in San Lázaro and after the PRI majority in the Senate voted for the reform of the Constitution, there is no reason.

“We are waiting for the legislative process to end definitively, which will still go to the Chamber of Deputies to be voted on next Thursday.

“And meanwhile we are each in his own party, the PAN on his side and we on ours, deliberating what is going to follow and how,” he stressed.

However, Jesús Zambrano said that he could not assure that there will be no PAN, PRI and PRD alliance for the elections in the State of Mexico and Coahuila, since he said that the state leaders are currently in dialogue.

“We have not finished making a final decision. And that is part of what we are assessing, there are conflicting positions in both parties, PRD and PAN, on whether or not we should make a multilateral alliance that incorporates the PRI or only partial agreements without the PRI, but all of this is being assessed at the state level. as a national, I think we are going to wait several days,” he said.

Zambrano said that despite the loss of confidence in Moreno Cárdenas, there are leaderships in the PRI with a commitment to the country, and gave the example of senators Beatriz Paredes, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, who voted against the extension to 2028. the military presence in public security.

“Of course, on our part, willing to walk with those in the PRI who have remained firm in the face of everything that is happening, have resisted pressure, and I know that like the PRI senators who voted against, there are many more leaders in different parts of the country that want to walk in search of an alliance and that is what we have to evaluate.

“There is a lot of PRI at the national level; there are these three personalities of the PRI who are not little weight. They are of great importance, inside and outside that party, and there are many leaders in various states that come to tell me, hey Zambrano, we must walk together, we do want to”, he stated.
