Robert G. Vogel, a 43-year-old world champion shooter and former law enforcement officer from St. Marys, Ohio, has been arrested on six felony charges related to child pornography and other offenses.
The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Vogel was taken into custody on Friday, August 8. He is currently being held at the Auglaize County Jail without bond and is awaiting a court appearance.
The charges against Vogel include three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, specifically for producing, creating, and possessing illegal materials. He also faces one charge of disrupting a public service and two counts of offenses involving underage persons related to the sale or purchase of alcohol.
Vogel is a highly decorated marksman, recognized as the only law enforcement officer to have won world and national championships in the practical pistol disciplines of IPSC, USPSA, and IDPA. His career spanned more than a decade in law enforcement, during which he served as a police officer, a SWAT team member, and a firearms instructor.
